African Americans continue to look toward a bright future in the American Dream. We yearn for equality, although it feels that sometimes like a Montage of a Dream Deferred, by Langston Hughes.

The Ancestors tell us to continue the journey and continue to chase the Sun as the shade creeps upon us. Don’t be discouraged, don’t be dismayed.

What happens to a dream deferred?

Does it dry up
like a raisin in the sun?
Or fester like a sore–
And then run?
Does it stink like rotten meat?
Or crust and sugar over–
like a syrupy sweet?

Or maybe it just sags
Like a heavy load.

Or does it explode?
