SOUL OF THE STONE: A Living Sculpture Journey from Zimbabwe to Chicago
CHICAGO, IL — September–October 2026 — Gallery Guichard, in partnership with The Field Museum, the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs, the Garfield Park Conservatory, and the South Shore Cultural Center, proudly presents Soul of the Stone, an eight-month cultural and artistic experience celebrating the rich tradition of Zimbabwean Shona stone sculpture.
Spencer Chigombe is a Zimbabwean stone sculptor born in Murehra in 1987 who creates intricate, abstract knotted stone forms. He learned his craft under the mentorship of the established sculptor Tawanda Kapusi.
