SOUL OF THE STONE: A Living Sculpture Journey from Zimbabwe to Chicago

CHICAGO, IL — September–October 2026 — Gallery Guichard, in partnership with The Field Museum, the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs, the Garfield Park Conservatory, and the South Shore Cultural Center, proudly presents Soul of the Stone, an eight-month cultural and artistic experience celebrating the rich tradition of Zimbabwean Shona stone sculpture.

Bernard Mutonhodza is a contemporary Zimbabwean stone sculptor known for traditional Shona-style carvings. He works to preserve and pass down the heritage of Zimbabwean stone sculpture to younger generations, exhibiting internationally and mentoring emerging artists like Abraham Karuru.
