Sanah Brown-Bowers is a native of Queens, New York. She has been residing in Fort Worth, Texas for the past 20 years. She attended the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York and recently graduated from the University of North Texas with her Bachelor of Fine Art in Drawing, Painting, and Sculpture. In September 2022, she will begin her Master in Fine Art at Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, Maryland.
A principle theme in Sanah’s work has been using herself and her family as the focal point behind the stories. Her artwork is about exploring textures on canvas in the form of wooden shadow boxes and what she likes to call family altars that include 3 dimensional elements, lighting and realistic portraiture with a whimsical pop art edge.
Sanah uses her artwork as a form of art therapy for the viewer in terms of the deep and intimate content that is discussed in the form of text and images. She sees her artwork as a portal and hopes that her work can help bring healing and happiness to the viewer.
