Nostalgia was created with home in mind. This piece is a combination of portraiture, layers of paper and assemblage art made from found objects. The motivation behind this piece was to embody the deepest feelings inside Zee’s mind and heart. This is Zee’s first year away from home at college; living in New York City is not only exciting but overwhelming. She expressed that she misses home dearly, especially the intimacy and closeness we shared. This piece was created to tell all those who have ever felt this way that home is really in your mind and heart, and to always remember, home can travel with you wherever you go. The focal point of the piece is the intricate personalized assemblage house that lets the viewer take a peek into Zee’s world. It is visually enhanced by mini LED lights.
